Any Child Will Love It! Electric Scooters For Kids
One of the first toys the older child will learn to operate and play with is a kick scooter or bicycle. They love the freedom and mobility that comes with owning and operating a bicycle or scooter. So it's no accident that kids LOVE electric scooters. The thrill of driving something that is powered by something other than their own body just lures them into it. For this reason, electric scooters for kids are a popular item for parents to buy for their children -- but you must choose wisely. If you don't your child could be disappointed, or even worse - badly injured. Here is some helpful information and recommendations to guide you in making a wise purchase.
The first thing that you must keep in mind: electric scooters for kids are NOT toys. They may be dressed up to look like adult motorcycles, and come with all sorts of bells and whistles (taillights, fake license plates, headlights, sirens, etc.) - but electric scooters for kids can be misused and can cause real damage and injury.
Safety Considerations
So your first consideration should be: Is my child ready for an electric scooter? In general, I would recommend that you only buy an electric scooter for kids who are at least 12 years old (this is what the Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends). In my experience, parents also should not buy any electric scooter for kids who have not yet learned to safely ride a two-wheeled bike. If a child has trouble when riding a two-wheeler, they have not yet developed the sense of balance and control necessary to safely operate any electric-propelled device, including electric scooters. You also need to consider the personality of your child. If you tell your child about proper safe operating rules, will they listen to you? Electric scooters for kids - especially the high-end models - can operate at high enough speeds that, if pushed to the bike's limits, may cause the scooter to go out of control. If you have a child that likes to push the limits, or take unnecessary thrills, then electric scooters for kids are not the best choice for them. In general, you must instruct your children not to ride their scooter up steep inclines, or on uneven surfaces, or those covered with a lot of gravel, stones or dirt -- and electric scooters for kids must not be operated on slick, wet, or slippery roads, as the driver can slide or skid out of control. When using electric scooters for kids, children must be taught to give pedestrians the right-of-way, and also to wear reflective clothing when traveling at night (better yet: electric scooters for kids should not be ridden after dark at all). A Positive Experience For Your Child Owning an electric scooter can be a positive experience for your child. Learning proper operation of their electric scooters for kids can be a great way to begin learning about the rules of the road - the first step to eventually driving a car. In addition, electric scooters for kids can teach them about proper maintenance issues. They can learn how to look for signs of tire tread wear, defective brakes, broken headlights and lamps, etc. Once again electric scooters for kids can prepare them for car ownership as adults. And owning an electric scooter, for kids, can become a positive experience of helping out the family, as they speed away down to the corner store to pick up some milk and bread . .
